Advent and Christmas at West Nash UMC
Because West Nash is an open, inclusive, and affirming congregation, you do not need to be a member of the church to join any of our services or activities.
YOU are welcome here!

December 1, 6pm, Messy Church Celebration with Pancake Supper, Activities, Storytelling., and pictures with Santa. Click here to sign up.
December 3, 10 am, Blessing of Advent Wreath and Chrismon Tree
As we begin the season of Advent, of preparing for the coming of Jesus as a baby and for him to come again as he promised, we take the time to give thanks for our Chrismon Tree (Chrismons are ornaments designed to remind us of Jesus Christ) and our Advent Wreath. The Advent Wreath has become a tradition in the Church to help us count down the Sundays until Christmas arrives. It also is a way that we think about the themes of Advent — peace, hope, joy, and love. We take time in this worship service to bless the tree and wreath as we begin Advent.
December 9, 7pm, Preschool & Choir Cantata with Reception
Our choir presents a full cantata, along with a special appearance by our West Nash Preschool students. We also will have dancers from Dance Studio B here to dance during one of the songs. Following the cantata will be a reception to greet all the singers and enjoy time together.
December 10, 10am, Choir Cantata
If you missed the cantata on Saturday, here’s another chance to experience the joy of Christmas through music. The choir shares the good news with their voices in lieu of a traditional service. Though the Preschool students won’t be here, the dancers will.
December 12, 6pm, Service of Light and Healing
This mid-week service is for anyone who is grieving. Grief can be caused by many things — the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, the loss of a job. This service is a time to recognize that even as we rejoice at the coming of Jesus Christ, there are real reasons in our lives for us to be unhappy. There are real reasons that we may not be looking forward to Christmas this year. Our hope is that through this service you will find some peace and healing as you face Christmas Day. During the service there is an opportunity for people to come forward to pray with the pastor and to be anointed with oil.
December 24, 5pm, Candlelight Communion Service
As the sun sets on Christmas Eve, join in worship with others celebrating the arrival of God in the flesh. All people are welcome at this service and at the Table of the Lord as we celebrate Holy Communion. Our tradition at West Nash is to end the service with candles and glow sticks as we sing Silent Night.
December 31, 10am, Wesleyan Covenant Service
John Wesley, the father of the Methodist tradition, encouraged people to begin the year by renewing their covenant with God. This simple service reminds us that we are part of God’s family, called to serve God in all that we do. It’s a wonderful way to look forward to the New Year.
