What is 65 for 65?
As you know, building maintenance on the West Nash property in the past few years has taken a toll on church finances. Money that was considered a “rainy day fund” had to be used to keep the building in good enough shape for us to continue to use the church building/property for worship, preschool, the Summer Learning Initiative, VBS, Al-Anon, choir practice, Bible study, United Methodist Men, United Women of Faith, Youth Group, 243-Sign, and the Thrift Store. Obviously, we had to keep the buildings in good shape. Now, we need to replenish that money to keep our finances in good shape so we can continue being a people who make disciples of Jesus Christ who experience and share God’s grace; who love one another, and who serve the community and the world.
To do this, we are asking everyone to consider how they can and will contribute over the next few months. Our goal is to raise $65,000 above the usual giving by Sunday, October 27, 2024, when we celebrate 65 years of West Nash UMC’s ministry in Wilson. We know that you already give to West Nash. What we hope is that you may be able to give more each month, to help us reach our goal of $65,000 by October 27. On our Give page, simply select “65 for 65” each time you want to give extra to the church, so we can track how much has been donated.
If 65 individuals/households in the church were to give an extra $1,000 over the next 9 months, that would meet our goal! Each individual/household would need to give an extra $111 each month, February thru October. For some of us, that is something we can handle. For others, that may be difficult to do. Each household will need to pray about this and think about how they can help the congregation meet this goal.
– What purchases can you sacrifice for 9 months?
– Can you give a little more than $111/month, to help those who cannot give that amount?
– Is there a way to raise money through your talents and abilities?
As people of the Christian faith, we trust that God will provide. We also know that we must work with God to do the all the ministries we are called to do as a congregation. Thank you for taking the time to read more. Thank you for praying about how you will help make a difference.
Thank you for giving!
