1959
West Nash UMC was established at the North Carolina Annual Conference. Rev. Lester P. Jackson appointed by Bishop Paul N. Garber. Sunday School and Worship held in the rented parsonage at 1606 Adams Street. The 35-member congregation moved into the renovated residence on West Nash Street in October.
1960
Charter membership was 77 on April 10. Officers were then elected, formally establishing West Nash UMC. A parsonage located on Corbett Avenue was purchased in June.
1961
The congregation endorsed plans for a sanctuary on December 8.
1962
Sanctuary groundbreaking ceremonies were held on July 22.
1963
On February 24, the congregation met in the new sanctuary for worship. The sanctuary formally opened on June 2.
1965
The parsonage was sold in the spring and a new parsonage, located at 1105 Knollwood Drive, was purchased.
1972
Final payment on sanctuary was made in the spring of 1972. Dedication of sanctuary was held on May 28, 1972.

1974
In May, a new building campaign for the construction of an education building was launched.
1975
Destruction of the residence which had served as an education building was begun February 5. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held March 2. Congregation began using the new facility in November.
1976
A consecration was held in January for the new educational building.
1989
Additional Braswell property was purchased for rental purposes. In the fall, a sanctuary refurbishing program was begun.
1991
In February, the new balcony was completed and stained glass windows installed, along with other renovations to the sanctuary. On May 19, a dedication service was held in the refurbished sanctuary.
2001
The storage building renovated to serve as a Youth Center, including a gym, lounge/activity area, office, washer and dryer, ice machine, and full service kitchen. The building was made to be generator-ready and suitable for a Disaster Relief Center if needed.
2005
West Nash Preschool Program founded.
2006
First International Mission Trip held in Costa Rica in June.
2014
New window in sanctuary installed in April; new bus purchased in June.
2019
The Duke Endowment’s Summer Literacy Initiative awards West Nash with a $135,000 grant for summer literacy programs. Read the local news story. In November, the West Nash Thrift Store opens. Read the local news story about the thrift store.
