Joan Brownd Gibbs earned a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Barton College, organ being her main instrument. While finishing her degree, Joan served as organist/choir director at West Nash UMC (1971-73). Her husband, Milo, a banker, and she lived in many small communities after college graduation, Joan playing and directing at a church in each town. They returned to Wilson in 1982, where their children, Leslie and Spencer, grew up. In 1985, Joan was hired as organist and choir director of 5 choirs at First Presbyterian Church in Wilson, NC, retiring July 1, 2020.
Milo and Joan are blessed with 2 grandsons, Bruin, senior, and Rance, junior in high school; their mom, Leslie, an attorney in Greenville, NC.
Joan is full of gratitude to God for the opportunity to once again provide music to this congregation.
